WELCOME TO

DEVON, PLYMOUTH & TORBAY CAREERS HUB

Inspiring business & education to grow the talent of the future across  Devon, Plymouth & Torbay

The DPT Careers Hub, established in collaboration with The Careers and Enterprise Company to help transform careers education for young people across Devon, Plymouth and Torbay.

We work with every state-funded secondary school, special educational needs school, alternative provision & post 16 college, helping them to link with local employers to deliver high quality careers support for students.

As well as working with employers we link with training providers, FE colleges, universities and career professionals to help to deliver the Gatsby Benchmarks and to ensure that all young people are able to identify their best next step.

The Careers Hub will now play a critical role in supporting local skills development plans post Covid, understanding current and future job markets and feeding that intelligence into education.

NEWS

Primary Careers programme to help children dream big about their future now extended to the whole of Devon and Torbay.

The Devon, Plymouth and Torbay Careers Hub is part of Start Small Dream Big – a new £2.6 million nationwide programme designed to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds to think about careers and gain an understanding of the type of jobs available.

This programme has been running in Plymouth since September 2023 and we are now delighted to be able to offer the programme to Primary schools across Devon and Torbay with FSM% of over 23.

Devon and Torbay are among four non-Education Investment Areas (EIAs) invited to take part in the latest round of the project, starting in March.

The programme will bring learning alive by linking lessons to careers. It will also provide opportunities for pupils to meet inspiring employers so they can explore different jobs and understand the skills they’ll need for the future.

The initiative will bring together primary schools in local areas and provide teachers with training delivered by Teach First – to support teachers to develop and deliver careers programmes.

Oli de Botton, CEO of The Careers & Enterprise Company, said:

“Our primary school careers programme will help young people from disadvantaged communities explore the world of work in exciting and meaningful ways, raising aspirations and reducing barriers.

“The programme aims to inspire primary school children by connecting them with role models, showing them how different subjects relate to jobs and encourage them to continue to dream big.”
